SeaWorld loses Panama Jack sponsorship
Nov 24, 2014
SeaWorld has lost another sponsor due to backlash from the controversial film, Blackfish. Panama Jack, an Orlando-based sunscreen company, has been partnering with SeaWorld since the 1980s, but will drop that agreement as of February 28 "based on business reasons."
David Perle, spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), said, "After several follow-up e-mails and calls, we received an e-mail on November 12 from Lynn Martenstein that Panama Jack would be ending its SeaWorld sponsorship for 'business reasons' when the contract is up in February, though the company has already removed SeaWorld's logo from its website."
SeaWorld has also lost the support of Virgin Airlines and a 26-year partnership with Southwest Airlines.
