Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter in Walt Disney World reopened on November 19, 2016 after a lengthy refurbishment. I couldn’t wait to go over and see the new area.
The new food court still has a Mardi Gras theme, but it is toned down. That was my favorite part of the previous food court. The over-the-top decorations really immersed you into the theme. Now it looks like your Grandma came in and said “clean up your room.” The new version feels familiar, but it lacks the excitement of the old food court.
They took the decorations off the ceiling and placed a few of them around the room. The masks are gone.
They have moved some of the food stations around. The bakery got a larger area.
They have installed Coke Freestyle machines in the food court. No excuses now, you can have the perfect soda with your meal!
Over the top of the beverage area, they have what they are calling an unfinished Mardi Gras parade float.
The food court was busy for breakfast. You might want to eat at off times to be able to find a table. The lunch menu looked pretty much the same as before.
