Pat Carroll, Voice of Ursula in Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid,’ Has Passed Away

Over the weekend, Pat Carroll, the comedienne who was the voice behind Ursula in The Little Mermaid and Morgana in The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea passed away.

Throughout her career, Carroll worked on classic variety shows such as Caesar’s Hour and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Her TV credits also included Cinderella, Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, Love, American Style, My Three Sons, Police Woman, Busting Loose, The Love Boat, Trapper John, M.D., Evening Shade, Designing Women, and ER.

In an interview with Allan Neuwirth in Makin‘ Toons: Inside the Most Popular Animated TV Shows and Movies, she said that she’d had a lifelong ambition to “do a Disney film” and that voicing Ursula was one of her most favorite roles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carroll died from pneumonia at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She was 95.
