DIS’ers give good advice! When we were researching where we wanted to stay for our last Disney World vacation, we found where a few DIS’ers recommended staying in a business class room at Coronado Springs, Disney’s moderate-level, conference center resort. Staying in a standard view business class room with two queen beds costs about $55 to $70 more a night than a regular standard view room with two queen beds and only about $15 more than a preferred room.
A business class room with one king bed costs about $35 to $50 more than a regular room with one king bed and about $30 to $40 more than a preferred room. What are the perks and are they worth it?
The first perk is proximity. Coronado Springs is a massive resort with 125 acres and 1,921 rooms. Some guests have complained that they had to walk a mile for breakfast! With a preferred or business class room, you are guaranteed a room in close proximity to guest services, the restaurants, and the pool area. For those with young children or older adults, this perk can be priceless!
The next benefit is access to Coconino Lounge, which serves a continental breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and snacks, sodas, beer, and wine from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day. My family loved the morning breakfast which consisted of cereals, pastries, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and bagels. The cappuccino machine was also nice! We were on the Disney Dining Plan and eating every morning in the lounge allowed us to save snack and meal credits. The evening refreshments were also enjoyed. Chips and salsa, mixed nuts or pretzels were good after a late night swim. My kids enjoyed picking up a soda on the way back to the room as well. If you like beer and wine, the drinks may make the additional price more than worth it. The lounge also offers sangrias!
The business class rooms themselves come with added bonuses. There are upgraded mattresses, tile floors and additional shelving in the vanity area, wood crown molding, a Blu-ray/DVD player, and bathrobes. If you enjoy a little nicer room, you will like the business class rooms.
So, it is up to you! Do the perks make it worth it? For those who normally book a preferred room, the small additional cost may be worth the other benefits, but for those who typically stay in a standard room, the perks may not outweigh the higher room price. For us, the close proximity to the main areas of the resort and the lounge make the added cost worth it. Thank you DISboards! Whatever you decide, Coronado Springs is a beautiful, Spanish-style resort with a great pool and waterslide.
