Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Lobby Construction Update

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has been undergoing extensive construction and refurbishments. It’s been a while since we last checked on the progress, and since we are getting closer to the holidays, I wanted to see how far along they’ve gotten. On our last adventure, we also saw scaffolding on a few buildings, so I definitely want to check on that, too.

My question for all of you is, would you stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa while all of this construction is going on? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Lobby Construction at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, a lot of remodeling and construction is happening. When we last visited, the lobby was behind construction walls.

The lobby remodel was scheduled to begin earlier this spring, but Disney wasn’t able to meet that schedule. This confirms, hopefully, that nothing will interfere with the iconic giant gingerbread house this holiday season. There are still white scrims around a few of the upstairs balconies.

Disney will resume the lobby remodel next year. Currently, the area still has that vintage theming that we all know and love. This is the time to soak it all in before they make all the changes. I did notice that some of the furniture has changed and matches what the lobby will one day become. Those pieces stick out like sore thumb because they don’t match the current aesthetic.

Hi, I'm Erica, and I write about all things Disney. Before working for The DIS, I was a theme park performer at SeaWorld, but I also performed at Disney. I have such an immense love for theme parks to the point I studied them in college.
