Could Dana Walden Be the First Female CEO at Disney?

We all know that Bob Iger can’t be The Walt Disney Company’s CEO forever, so it comes as no surprise that there is talk about who could be next in line as his potential successor. According to a report featured on CNBC, Dana Walden has emerged as a frontrunner for the position. If Walden replaces Iger when his current contract is up in 2026, she would be the first female CEO in the company’s history.

An article on Yahoo! Finance last month listed four names (including Walden) as potential successors. The other three include ESPN’s Jimmy Pitaro, Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, and Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment.

A recent Bloomberg report says Iger has been spending a lot of time with the four potential internal candidates, showing them his ways and giving them exposure to different parts of the business they might not know about. Disney might also consider appointing a second-in-command executive under Iger, like a President or COO, to learn the ropes before officially taking over.

You can read all about Walden’s history at the link in her name above. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the potential replacements for Iger, so let’s hear it in the comments section below.
