Last week, we asked our DIS Community if we needed more Duffy the Bear in our lives at the US-based Disney Parks. For some, it was an instant yes, a longing for what guests at the international parks get to enjoy. For others, it was a solid no, preferring to pass on the mysterious character that doesn’t quite fit into the American narrative so well. Still, when I saw the delightful new treats that are arriving at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort for Duffy & Friends Play Days (which has just kicked off!), I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe there could be a place for all things Duffy & Friends in EPCOT.
Duffy is most popular in the Asian-based Disney Parks, with appearances in Hong Kong Disney, Shanghai Disney, and Tokyo Disney, each with a slightly different approach to the character and its presence. Since we have both China and Japan represented at EPCOT’s World of Showcase in Walt Disney World, surely there must be a place to highlight a little of what can be seen in the corresponding Disney Park; even if it were just the treats and merchandise. Take a look at some of the tasty treats that are available at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort from now through May 7th for the Duffy & Friends Play Days, and then let me know if you think I am crazy on this one!
