Disney Debate: Vacation Laundry Or Clothes For Days?

When it comes to traveling, our family is a well-oiled machine. Everyone knows their role, we all have strengths and weaknesses, and there isn’t much that can throw us off course. Although there is one topic that we are constantly divided on, it always seems to become a point of discussion before every trip: laundry. Some of us like to pack enough clothes to suit the time we will be away, a capsule wardrobe, if you will, with enough of the basics covered so that, unless there is some unexpected wardrobe malfunction, no laundry should be required while away. Others prefer to pack light, taking on the bare necessities, washing and drying as they go. There are pros and cons to both, so we thought this week that we might throw this topic over to our DIS community to see what you prefer.

For me, a vacation means a break from all the routine, boring jobs I must do at home. Cooking, cleaning, getting kids off to school, and laundry. Even though we don’t usually partake in Mousekeeping services to make beds and tidy up (a few fresh towels will do us), I do like that separation from home where I don’t need to be on top of everything all the time. Of course, it does mean that I am often packing more than I really need to, lugging more clothes and accessories around than is necessary, and it also has its downsides.

Others in my household prefer to travel light, which makes things easier while you are in transit. However, it does put added pressure on your already busy days, trying to find time to use a washer and dryer between park days. It’s lighter but time-consuming, and for us, it often becomes a wrench in the Mickey-shaped works when we need to take time out to get the job done back at the resort.

Come on, friends. Let us know what you think. When you travel, do you pack enough clothes for the whole trip (including excessive socks, undies, etc.) or do you take the time to wash and repeat as you go?
