Exciting things are happening at Magic Kingdom as we get a first glimpse inside The Beak and Barrel, a brand-new themed lounge coming soon to Walt Disney World. While Walt Disney Imagineering says it’s still very much a work in progress, recent previews of two key areas – the Mapmaker’s Room and the Captains’ Booths – are giving fans a taste of the immersive detail and storytelling that Disney is known for.
The Mapmaker’s Room, as the name suggests, appears to be the heart of exploration within the lounge. With early touches hinting at nautical charts, aged wood finishes, and tools of the trade, it promises to be a cozy space filled with adventurous charm. This area seems to lean into the storytelling of voyagers and sea captains who mapped uncharted lands – perfect for sparking the imagination of Disney guests of all ages.
Meanwhile, the Captains’ Booths appear to offer a more intimate setting, perhaps tucked into corners of the lounge with curved seating, warm lighting, and subtle maritime details. These booths might become one of the most sought-after spots in the space – ideal for relaxing with friends, enjoying themed bites and drinks, and soaking in the atmosphere.
While the space is still under construction, the magic is starting to take shape. From the early glimpses, it’s clear that Disney Imagineers are pouring creativity into every detail, bringing this new venue to life with a layered backstory and signature theming. As excitement builds for its grand opening later this year, The Beak and Barrel is shaping up to be a standout addition to Magic Kingdom – one that blends history, mystery, and a touch of nautical wonder.
Stay tuned as more details emerge – we can’t wait to see (and sip in) the finished space!
