Pool area at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge under construction

Several areas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are under construction and being enhanced in the next few months.

The first visible change is the renaming of The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. According to the Disney Parks Blog, this new name reflects the railroad theming of the resort and will complement the resort’s overall storyline

The Hidden Springs Pool area will also be reimagined to build into the Boulder Ridge backstory. This area will reopen in Summer 2017 and will “feature an expanded sun deck and zero-depth-entry pool in what appears to have been an abandoned rock quarry.”

Also on the list of enhancements are a new bar and grill and quick service restaurant, Geyser Point Bar & Grill. This dining location will be near the resort’s main pool and offer plenty of outdoor seating.

The article describes the enhancement process itself as fitting in with the storyline as well. “Such rejuvenating transformations were common in the Pacific Northwest following the mid-20th-century fading of the Transcontinental Railroad, as locals turned rails into trails – repurposing everything from bridges and tunnels to cranes and quarries.”

To complete the theme, the pool area will have a “Boulder Ridge Railway and Mining Co.” water tower soaring above it, to remind guests of the resort’s “pioneering past.”

Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
