If you’ve ever tried to squeeze into Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Walt Disney World, you already know the struggle is real. The fan-favorite tiki lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is notorious for long waits and limited seating. The good news? Disney just made it a little easier to plan your visit.
Trader Sam’s & Tiki Terrrace Hours Extended
According to Walt Disney World’s operating calendar, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is now open daily from 11:00 am to 12:00 am through at least February 14th, 2026, which is the furthest date currently listed. This is a big change from the previous 3:00 PM opening time, offering guests a much larger window to stop by, which is especially helpful if you’re looking for a midday break away from the parks.
The lounge’s age policy remains the same:
- All ages are welcome from opening until 8:00 pm
- After 8:00 pm, entry is limited to guests 21 and older
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, the outdoor lounge located just outside the grotto, has also received extended hours. It now operates daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm. Unlike the indoor grotto, the Tiki Terrace remains all-ages throughout the day and evening, making it a more flexible option for families.
Digital Walk-Up Waitlist Now Available
Along with the extended hours, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto has added a digital walk-up waitlist through the My Disney Experience app. This replaces the need to physically line up at the door.
Here’s how it works:
- You must be physically present at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to join
- The waitlist is accessed in the My Disney Experience app
- Once your party is added, you’ll receive notifications in the app when your return time is ready.
The space is very small, with limited seating that can fill quickly. It’s important to keep in mind Trader Sam’s is still based on walk-up availability only, with no advanced reservations available, so be prepared to wait.
