Big milestone energy is heading to Walt Disney World in January 2027. runDisney has officially revealed that the 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, and Donald Duck is stepping into the spotlight for the occasion.
Donald being front and center again feels especially fitting, since he was the mascot of the very first Walt Disney World Half Marathon. During the January 6–10, 2027 race weekend, he’ll be part of every race and every course, with plenty of familiar Disney friends along for the ride to help mark the occasion. For runners, fans, and spectators alike, this anniversary edition promises extra nostalgia, classic Disney charm, and plenty of one-of-a-kind moments.
This year’s race themes pair Donald with different pals depending on the distance, giving each event its own personality while keeping Donald at the heart of the weekend. Whether you’re tackling a single race or going all in on a challenge, you can expect signature runDisney storytelling, themed entertainment, and commemorative medals designed just for this milestone year.
Walt Disney World 5K
On January 7th, join Pluto for 3.1 miles of doggone good fun…and maybe even see Donald Duck trying to coax him across the finish line with bones and treats. If you yourself need coaxing, we do not recommend the bones.

On January 8th, watch Donald Duck try to shake Chip (and Dale) off his shoulder for 6.2 mischievous miles. Note that literally running with live creatures on your shoulder is frowned upon (even if you happen to be a pirate).

On January 9th, lace up for 13.1 miles of 30th anniversary magic featuring Donald getting his feathers in a bunch alongside Daisy. And, yes, we realize that getting his feathers in a bunch is not very happy anniversary-like of Donald.

Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge
Runners who register for this challenge (made up of both the half marathon and marathon for a total of 39.3 miles) will receive a special medal featuring Goofy sharing the limelight with his buddy, Donald Duck (who thinks the limelight is all his). Is light even ever lime?
Complete both the Half Marathon and the Marathon races on pace and earn:
- Walt Disney World Half Marathon Medal
- Walt Disney World Marathon Medal
- Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge Medal
That’s a grand total of 3 Medals and 39.3 miles in one weekend!
