Steakhouse 71 is located on the first floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This table-service restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a full bar and option to dine in the lounge. Breakfast and lunch are casual, while dinner tends to be more of a steakhouse feel. Steakhouse 71 pays homage to Walt Disney World’s 1971 opening with black and white photos of Walt surveying the Florida Project land and photos of opening day at Magic Kingdom.

In addition to being able to dine at the bar all day, the evenings offer its own lounge menu with casual seating and walk-up availability.

Steakhouse 71 is quite large and the mid-century theming continues into the dining room with gold fixtures and vintage photos of Magic Kingdom. Because of Steakhouse 71’s large capacity, you can often find a last-minute reservation or walk-up availability.

Steakhouse 71 has consistently been a great place to get a decently priced table service breakfast, a great burger at lunch, and a nice dining experience so close to the Magic Kingdom. It had been awhile since our last review and it was time to test if Steakhouse 71 is still the perfect place to start a Magic Kingdom day.
Steakhouse 71 Seasonal Pancakes – served with choice of bacon, pork sausage, or turkey sausage – $15

The seasonal pancakes at Steakhouse 71 are always delicious. During our visit, the offering was strawberry with fresh strawberry compote and whipped cream. The pancakes were fluffy with plenty of sweet compote and are a Steakhouse 71 must-have. The version shown above is a side and not the full entree portion which also comes with a breakfast meat as a side. The side portion was more than plenty and sharing it with our savory entrees was the right call. We’ve also had a pumpkin and sweet potato version of these pancakes that are also phenomenal.
Avocado Toast – smashed avocado on Cuban bread served with arugula salad, onion jam vinaigrette, prosciutto, and poached eggs – $16

The avocado toast is a more impressive portion than what it looks like. The combination of the creamy avocado, with the salty prosciutto, and runny egg yolk was spot-on. Plus, the fluffy cuban bread made it all the better.

Side of Breakfast Potatoes – $5.50
Since the Avocado Toast doesn’t come with a side, we decided to add breakfast potatoes. They were typical homestyle potatoes and were well seasoned but ultimately nothing special.

Ham and Cheddar Omelet – served with breakfast potatoes and biscuit – $17

Originally, I had ordered the Western Omelet but what came out was just ham and cheese with just cheese on the inside. Once I realized this, I asked for the Western Omelet instead. If there’s an option to sub the potatoes for grits, you should do it. The grits are always incredible at Steakhouse 71 – they’re creamy and ultra rich with gouda cheese. Just like the pancakes, the grits are another Steakhouse 71 must-have. The biscuit can be hit and miss but this time was a hit – warm, fluffy, and buttery.
Western Omelet – served with breakfast potatoes and biscuit – $17

Once the Western Omelet actually came out, I was told it would look different because it was made with real eggs instead of the powdered eggs they normally use. Evidently, this was because the kitchen was in the process of closing for the breakfast service. To hear a Disney cast member say the omelet at a table-service restaurant was made with powdered eggs was pretty jarring. I always assumed powdered eggs were used at quick-service locations, but this caught me by surprise. Especially since I’ve had the omelet at Steakhouse 71 before and enjoyed it. This one was noticeably larger and with a different/ better texture. Since this isn’t the usual version, I’m not sure I can recommend the omelet anymore.
Despite our powdered eggs discovery, we both agreed we would absolutely visit Steakhouse 71 again for breakfast. The portions and prices are more than fair for a Disney sit-down restaurant and the proximity to the Magic Kingdom can’t be beat. The atmosphere is also enjoyable and peaceful first-thing in the morning. We would recommend the seasonal pancakes and grits any time!
