runDisney fans can officially start planning their spring race weekends, as the themes for the 2027 Springtime Surprise Weekend have been revealed.
Returning to Walt Disney World from April 8-11, 2027, the popular race event will take runners on a nostalgic trip through Disney animation history with a theme called “Running Through the Years.” Inspired by the Disney Vault, the weekend will celebrate beloved characters from across the decades, mixing modern favorites with some classic animated icons.
The weekend kicks off with a Wreck-It Ralph-themed 5K, featuring Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz. Runners can expect plenty of colorful Sugar Rush-inspired fun as they race their way through the digitally charged adventure.

One of the things that makes Springtime Surprise so popular is that it often shines a spotlight on Disney characters and films that don’t always get featured during other runDisney weekends. This year’s lineup feels especially fun, with everything from a modern video game-inspired adventure to one of Disney’s most beloved animated classics.
Additional details, including registration information, race medals, merchandise, and special event offerings, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
So, which race theme has your attention? Personally, I have a feeling that Robin Hood 10K is going to have plenty of Disney fans reaching for their running shoes. Join the conversation about this race over on DISboards!
