On the night of Tuesday, February 14th, Organize Florida has scheduled a press conference and rally to be held at Walt Disney World. The goal is to start a campaign demanding that Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, step down from President Trump’s “Strategic and Policy Forum.” Uber CEO Travis Kalanick left the economic advisory council amidst numerous protests, and some are hoping that Iger will follow suit.
Orlando community members, faith leaders, immigrant organizations, students, Disney employees and labor unions will gather at Apopka-Vineland Road and Hotel Plaza Boulevard at 4:30 pm. Organize Florida is confident groups in other states will join them in a national campaign, with 300,000 people having already signed petitions regarding it. These petitions will be delivered to Disney before the press conference begins.
In reference to the popular Frozen song “Let It Go” the campaign has been named #DisneyLetHimGo.
