D23: The Official Disney Fan Club has announced the winners of this year’s D23 Expo Design Challenge, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park.
Judges for the Challenge included Tom Fitzgerald, creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering; Kevin Lively, story editor at Walt Disney Imagineering; Jeffrey-Shaver Moskowitz, executive portfolio producer at Walt Disney Imagineering; and Juleen Woods, Park IP content planning coordinator at Walt Disney Imagineering.
The winner of the Challenge (and the $2,300 top prize) was Jeremy Gatlin, with his piece “Flip Side of Phantom Manor,” which takes an usual look at the Disneyland Paris attraction.
There were two runners up who will also receive trophies. Jason Bitter’s “Jackbox Ghost” has Jack Skellington as the legendary Hatbox Ghost and Mary Nesnay’s “Ghost Host Coat” hints at what the attraction’s ghostly narrator might be wearing.
Guests at the D23 Expo will be able to check out the winners, plus the rest of the top 23 entries. Here’s a preview:
The D23 Expo takes place August 23rd through the 25th at the Anaheim Convention Center.
