Bob Chapek named Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts

The Walt Disney Company has announced that Bob Chapek has been named Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, effective immediately. Chapek replaces Tom Staggs, who was recently promoted to Chief Operating Officer, The Walt Disney Company. Disney World raises ticket prices; one-day ticket set at $105

Walt Disney World announced a ticket increase this morning, February 22. As expected, one-day Magic Kingdom tickets are listed at $105, finally breaking the $100 barrier. Prices for the other three parks are set at $97 per day. Florida resident annual passes are priced at $529, up from $485. Newest Pirates of the Caribbean film begins production

Production has started on the newest film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales. Fred Hammond performing at SeaWorld’s Praise Wave festival

SeaWorld Orlando’s Praise Wave Christian music festival will close out with artist Fred Hammond performing on Saturday, February 28. Hammond began his career playing bass guitar for the gospel group, The Winans, and went on to win six Dove awards and one Grammy award. SeaWorld employees not paid on time due to clerical error

SeaWorld Entertainment experienced a clerical payroll error this week, which resulted in all salaried employees not receiving paychecks. SeaWorld said there was a “slight delay” in the paychecks, but didn’t say when it would be corrected or how many employees did not receive their checks. Former Disney employee sues for racial discrimination

A former Walt Disney World employee is suing the company, saying that she was racially discriminated against by white employees, who criticized her hair and high heels.
