But every now and then, something comes along that makes you pause. And not in a good way.
Today’s contender? The new Disney x BaubleBar Custom Charm Ear Headband.
Now, on paper, this sounds like a win. Customizable? Personal? A fresh take on the iconic Minnie Mouse ears? Yes, yes, and yes. We’ve already seen how successful personalization can be with Disney merch, especially when you can add your name or make something feel uniquely yours. But this new version takes a different approach, and this is where things start to unravel.
Instead of that polished, cohesive look we’ve come to expect, this design leans heavily into dangling charms across the ears, creating a piece that feels cluttered rather than curated. And I don’t know how else to say it; it’s a little unhinged. Not in the fun, playful Disney way we love. More in the there’s too much happening, and I don’t know where to look kind of way. My hair already gets caught up in sequins, I can’t imagine sporting these in a breeze.
And let’s talk practicality for a second. These are theme park accessories. You’re walking, riding attractions, hugging characters, probably getting caught in the rain at some point. Dangling charms might look cute in a product photo, but in real life? That’s a lot of movement, noise, and potential tangling. It feels more like a novelty than something you’d actually want to wear all day in the parks.

I think what makes this one particularly frustrating is that the idea itself is so good. Custom Disney ears should be an instant win. We’ve seen it work before. But this execution just feels overcomplicated, like it needed one more round of editing before hitting the shelves.
So, where does this land on our Hit or Miss list? Unfortunately, this one is a MISS for me.
