About the artist:
Brittany L. Smith is a Senior Production Designer with a specific focus on figure finishing that is part of the Walt Disney Imagineering Florida show quality standards team. With a master’s degree in fine art and a bachelor’s degree in illustration, Smith’s Disney career began in the Magic Kingdom Park parade department where she assisted in the fabrication and maintenance of parade floats featured in the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade.
Some of Smith’s notable projects include supporting the theming of the Audio-Animatronics figure for the pirate named Redd in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and more recently the figures that are being fabricated for the Tokyo Disney Sea Fantasy Springs expansion, which includes characters from Frozen and Tangled.
She also recently developed a new color scheme for the ‘Grim Grinning Ghosts’ found in The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom Park. Since 2018, Smith has been the director for topiary characters featured at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival and, as showcased here, she’s a designer for Tiana’s Audio-Animatronics character in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure which opens in Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland Park in 2024.
