I am not a big fan of the breakfast served in the Parks at the Disneyland Resort, so typically I will either eat at my hotel or just grab a pastry at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe to enjoy while I watch the throngs of tourists enter Disneyland in the morning.
This particular morning, however, I decided to spoil myself a little and try some of the newest holiday treats in place of a plain croissant or chocolate chip cookie.
I was in Disneyland Park before opening and found out that Jolly Holiday does not open until actual Park open. The line had already formed for the cafe, so I hopped in it. Once the Park and restaurant opened, the line moved fairly quickly.
There were way too many holiday treats for my stomach (and budget) to handle, so I chose four that looked interesting.
First up was the Banana Bundt Cake [$7.29] filled with dulce de leche and topped with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles.
This was my favorite. The banana cake itself was delicious and the gooey dulce de leche center took the cake up to the next level. While it wasn’t exactly holiday flavors, it’s still a winner.
Next I tried the Cookies and Cream Cheesecake [$7.29] topped with red and green mousse.
This was actually my least favorite of the four. While this was a decent cheesecake, I wanted something more. Plus, while some of the others may have stretched the holiday theme a bit, nothing about cookies and cream says holidays to me.
I had low hopes for the very gimmicky Chocolate Cake Snow Globe [$7.49] topped with a buttercream tree, but I couldn’t resist trying it.
I’m not usually a huge fan of chocolate cake, but this was a pleasant surprise.
Underneath the dome was a thin layer of chocolate cake topped with a delicious whipped chocolate frosting. It was definitely not the heavy chocolate cake I was expecting.
Finally, I tried the Holiday Ornament Macaron [$8.29] filled with chocolate ganache and peppermint mousse.
This was super cute, but I immediately took all of the decorations off and got down to the heart of the macaron. I will have to say that this was the most holiday to me, not just because of the decorations, but because of the tasty peppermint and fudgy chocolate filling. This is fun and delicious.
Was this a satisfying breakfast? Maybe not, but I did eat most of the banana cake, a good portion of the macaron, and maybe half of the chocolate cake.
Since calories don’t count when your at Disneyland, let yourself have some fun like I did and have a little dessert for breakfast during the holidays.
