What is Your Family's Ideal Number of Days at Disney? The DIS welcome

How long do you stay at Disney? Do you prefer to take more frequent shorter trips or long trips less often?

If given the choice, I would probably prefer to take shorter trips more frequently. But, since we’re either paying for airfare or driving for two days each way, that’s not really feasible. Our typical family vacations are between 7-10 days, which seems to be about right for our family. It’s enough time to be able to do everything we want without feeling rushed, but not so much time that we end up feeling bored or worn out.

There are many factors that will come into play when choosing how many days to stay, such as budget and time off from work and school. Check out what some posters on the DISboards had to say about the topic:

tryingfornumber7 – We went for 16 days last time. WAY too long. Kids were constantly fighting, we didn’t do much of anything and when we tried to cram it in it was a pain.

Mousemommy1 – Our last 3 trips have been 10 nights/11 days, and while they have been very relaxing at that length, it’s a wee bit too long. Our kids are ready to go home by about day 9.

Ilovedisneymm – We will be down at Disney in 5 days (leaving in 4) and will be staying 17 days this trip. First trip was 7 nights, second trip was 11 nights. Can’t wait!!! 10 day tickets but thinking of upgrading to annual passes. From leaving to returning home it will be almost 3 full weeks. We stay at Fort Wilderness and enjoy spending a lot of down time while there. Also planning a day or two at the ocean.

emilayyx0 – One week maximum is all you need

Lilliputian – We’ve gone for 4-5 weeks at a time and loved it. We stayed in a house in Windsor Hills and cooked a lot of our own meals and just ate out occasionally. My husband had a job where he worked from home, so I’d take the children to the parks in the morning while he stayed behind to work. We’d come down in the afternoon for naps for the little ones and school time for the older ones (we homeschool), and then in the evening we’d either swim in our pool or go back to the parks, depending on how we were feeling.

njdisneylovr – 365 would probably do it for me. Seriously though, 10 days minimum for us since we need a chill day or two in the mix.

Epcot resort area

amylevan – We’ve done less and we’ve done as many as 12 nights. The 12 night stay we were in our camper, so we were in “our own” beds and I could cook. We didn’t do the parks every day, but we did have time to go US and over to the Space Center. It was our most relaxing trip yet

Pumpkingirl17 – 4-5 days is plenty for our family… I can’t imagine 2-3 weeks. It takes us 10 hours to drive so we do travel in one day
