When you identify as a mermaid, like I did for the better part of my childhood, there is nothing worse than being stuck on land. All we want to do is frolic energetically in the ocean and never come out, except for the odd ice cream or sandwich. Well, my fellow mermaids, now there is a D23 event perfectly suited to our way of life. In just a few days, on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at 8:00 pm PDT, a special event will take place where you can enjoy a ‘swim-in’ screening of The Little Mermaid in honor of the 35th anniversary. You can watch your favorite Disney movie while flipping your fins in the waters of the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center in Los Angeles, CA! Here is everything you need to know:
Guests are invited to join the ultimate ‘swim-in’ screening celebration, where all can channel their own ‘little mermaid’—enjoying the iconic movie as they flip their fins in the largest pool in the country!
But if you’re like Ariel, and you’re more interested in spending the day on land, D23 Members with tickets to this event will have reserved beach access and seating areas closest to the movie screen providing a ‘sand-sational’ experience for you to share with your friends and family—no need to give up your voice to a sea witch either!
This special event will feature food trucks, a special pre-screening presentation, a commemorative event gift, and more fishy-fun surprises!
