Recently, during a special DVC event aboard the Disney Wish, Dr. Johnnetta Cole, who was the cultural advisor on Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-winning Soul, took some time to join guests for a “SOULful Storytime” experience. In the clip below, Dr. Cole reads the story of ‘SOUL‘ in a very special appearance that these guests won’t forget.
During the 2023 Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise aboard the Disney Wish, kids – and kids at heart – joined Dr. Johnnetta Cole, cultural advisor on Disney and Pixar’s Academy Award-winning Soul, in the ship’s Luna lounge to listen to the good doctor read The Little Golden Book version of the film’s stirring story, with the book’s endearing illustrations unfolding on the lounge’s towering LED screen. Before working on Soul, Dr. Cole became the first Black woman to serve as President of Spelman College, worked as the Director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art and, in 2023, was one of 12 honorees to receive the prestigious National Humanities Medal at the White House.
