The highlight of any good birthday party is often the cake. People wait to see what creative genius you’ve come up with, ready to judge your efforts, sometimes harshly. Well, for your next Disney-themed birthday party, we have you covered with some of the best cake inspo we have seen, as well as some hacks to save you the time and effort of doing the whole thing from scratch. Prepare to impress your guests, big and small, with some of these adorable cake options.
Sleeping Beauty Themed Birthday Cake
This one is my all-time favorite, and the best part is you can pull this off on a much smaller scale than the one in the video below. I once did something similar using pre-made vanilla mud cakes from the grocery store. You can create a very dramatic effect with a minimal amount of actual work.
Nightmare Before Christmas’ Oogie Boogie Cake
If you think you can’t be bothered shaping a cake that only crumbles into a big mess, don’t worry, I have a hack for this one too. If you are time or energy poor, stick with a rectangular slab cake and use fondant to create the character on top, skipping the cake-shaping nightmare before the birthday.
WALL•E Galaxy Cake
Admittedly, you could use this idea for just about any space-related theme. Because you aren’t looking for the perfect finish on top, the crumbling isn’t too much of a problem, and you can cover any trouble spots with dashes of color that give the whole cake a more space-like look.
Alice in Wonderland Tea Party
A fabulous idea for a birthday party for any age is a good old-fashioned tea party. Make yours Alice in Wonderland themed with this upside-down cake and fill your take with three-tiered serving trays filled with little sandwiches and bite-sized treats. If you aren’t comfortable with the strength of your own cake, try a smaller mud cake on the bottom and lighter cake types like a sponge on top.
The Little Mermaid Pavlova Cake
Pavlova is an Aussie tradition, so I loved adding this one to the list! The best part is you can do anything you want with it. You could quickly turn this ocean theme decoration into a Moana theme with a mini cake island in the middle.
