You know I love myself some behind-the-scenes Disney magic, and this week, I’ve got something a little left of center to share with you. While we normally like to peek behind the curtain at all things Disney Parks, today we are making a beeline for Broadway to get ready for the show with Disney’s Genie (Michael James Scott) in New York City!
Apart from being a Disney nerd, I am also, unapologetically, a theatre nerd, loving every musical, play, and concert I can get my hands on a ticket for. There is something about being in the audience for a live creative performance that digs deep into your soul and makes a home there. And no matter how much I question why I couldn’t become passionate about something cheaper than Disney Parks and Broadway, I’ve come to accept that the heart wants what it wants.
I digress. If this next clip behind the scenes of the Aladdin production doesn’t make you want to get up and move, I don’t know what will. I’m already queuing up the live-action Aladdin with Will Smith as I share this with you.
Disney Drop-In is an award-winning Disney Vacation Club series of unscripted videos filmed in interesting Disney places with equally interesting Disney people. In this episode, the interesting place is Disney’s historic New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City, and the equally interesting person is Disney on Broadway star Michael James Scott, the record-breaking Genie in Aladdin.
As the smash-hit production celebrates its milestone 10 anniversary, cameras follow Michael backstage as he prepares for a show. Our friends at Disney on Broadway filmed this extraordinary peek behind the scenes as part of a special presentation aboard the 2024 Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise, and the Disney Files staff is thrilled to now share it, not only with more Disney Vacation Club Members, but with all Disney fans.
