The final trailer for Disney’s live-action Moana has officially arrived, and if you need me, I’ll be over here trying very hard not to watch it on repeat for the rest of the day. Alongside the new trailer, Disney has also released a behind-the-scenes featurette that introduces us to Catherine Lagaʻaia as she steps into the role of Moana, giving fans a closer look at the journey of bringing this beloved heroine to life in a whole new way.
I’ll admit, I am a huge Moana fan. While I’m not Polynesian, growing up as an Aussie girl by the beach made this story feel closer to home than almost any other Disney Princess movie. The connection to the ocean, the pull of adventure, and the feeling that there might be something waiting beyond the horizon of my island all felt incredibly familiar. There’s something special about seeing a Disney heroine whose world revolves around the sea, sunshine, and island life, and it’s one of the reasons Moana has always held such a special place in my heart.
Let’s take a look at the new trailer and the behind-the-scenes glimpse that has Disney fans talking.
Now, with the live-action adaptation sailing closer to theaters, we’re getting our best look yet at the film’s breathtaking visuals, beloved characters, and the talented cast bringing this story to a new generation. And after watching Catherine Lagaʻaia speak about taking on the role, it’s hard not to feel even more excited about what’s ahead.
It was always going to be hard to replace the iconic sound of Auliʻi Cravalho from the Moana and Moana 2 animated movies. I can’t wait to see this new version of the Disney classic when it hits theatres next month. I’ve already gathered from my watch party people and am about to buy advance tickets.
