Melissa McCarthy Nails ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ In New Clip

In all the hype that has bubbled away on the internet over the last few months, the focus seemed to mainly be squared away on Ariel and the differences between the animated character and the new live-action one. From appearances to changes in storyline and music, for better or worse, fans seem fixated on The Little Mermaid‘s little mermaid.

Yesterday, Disney changed the narrative with the release of Melissa McCarthy’s rendition of Poor Unfortunate Souls, the musical centerpiece associated with her on-screen character, Ursula. Seeing this piece come to life through the evil grace of McCarthy made my inner seven-year-old mermaid swim back to life, reigniting the love I previously had for this story. I can’t wait for you all to see it in the clip below, and let me know what you think.
