DISboards.com Guidelines
The forums are a part of https://www.wdwinfo.com, also known as "The DIS". The site has no affiliations with the Walt Disney Company or any of its subsidiaries.
The DIS is designed to give Disney fans a place to share their experiences and assist one another in planning Disney vacations. We welcome visitors of all ages, and it is our number one goal to keep the DIS friendly, fun and informative. With this in mind, we have created guidelines that will keep the DIS a site that anyone can enjoy, whether they are a child or "child at heart."
We do not believe in unnecessary censorship, and open discussion about a wide range of issues is encouraged. When participating in a thread, we ask everyone to treat others with respect and follow our guidelines. If we find that an individual is disruptive or unable to follow our rules, the individual may be barred from participating on our site.
The following guidelines and rules are in effect for our message boards:
“For Sale,” “Want to Buy,” “Want to Share,” or posts that involve the exchange of money, goods or services between individuals are not permitted on DISboards. This includes posts seeking to buy or sell tickets to sold-out theme park parties, share VIP tours, transfer runDisney bibs, or arrange similar transactions. The only exception is the DVC Rent/Transfer Board, which has a unique set of posting rules that can be found here.
Solicitation of any kind is not permitted on DISboards without approval. This includes requests for donations, school or sports fundraisers, “vote for me” posts, requests to support online contests or sweepstakes, links to online auctions, or any similar situation involving personal gain beyond the scope of DISboards.
From time to time, members ask to post information about a fundraiser or another charitable support event. If you are participating in or wish to promote a charitable event, please email Corey at [email protected] for permission first. We only allow posts supporting registered nonprofit organizations, and donations must be made directly to the organization. Requests for cash, money orders, checks, goods, or other items sent to an individual or personal address are not permitted. All such requests must be approved by Corey before being posted.
Simply put, do not use swear words or post or link to suggestive or inappropriate photos. The boards use censoring software. If you use profanity, it will be filtered and appear as asterisks. Do not attempt to bypass the filters through alternate spelling, symbols, spacing, images, or other methods. Attempts to bypass the filters are treated the same as using the word itself and may result in an infraction. Posting or linking to pornography will result in removal and may result in a permanent ban.
While we would like a Disney fan site to remain lighthearted, disagreements sometimes occur. When you sense a conversation becoming hostile, step away before it escalates. We do not care who started the argument, and we do not want personal disputes on the DIS.
Do not attack, insult, harass, bait, belittle, threaten, ridicule, or target another member. Sarcasm directed at another member may also be treated as a personal attack. These actions may result in an infraction.
Due to the number of complaints about personal attacks related to these subjects and the difficulty many people have maintaining a civil conversation when discussing them, politics and religion are not appropriate topics on most DISboards forums. Posts or threads related to politics or religion may be removed, and repeated violations may result in an infraction.
The only board where such discussions are allowed is the Controversial Topics board. Discussions on that board must still follow all other DISboards guidelines.
The types of posts we want to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from. Posts intended only for one person may create an awkward situation for the person being contacted and for other members.
You may contact another member through the DISboards private-message system. Click the member's name to view available contact options. If a member has blocked private messages or other contact options, do not use the public boards to contact that person.
The advertisers and sponsors displayed on the DIS are carefully selected. We welcome discussion about businesses, products and services when the discussion is relevant to the topic. If we determine that you are using DISboards to promote a commercial venture, you may lose your posting privileges.
This includes choosing a username that refers to your business, organization, commercial service, social-media account, or website. Links to commercial websites may also be blocked. DISboards may not be used to solicit customers, request referrals, recruit clients, generate leads, distribute affiliate links, or promote goods and services without written approval.
Advertising requests may be directed to [email protected] for consideration.
Each board focuses on a specific topic. Please review the available boards before posting. For example, questions about theme park hours should not be posted on the Restaurants Board, and resort reviews should not be posted on the Disney Cruise Line Board.
Keeping discussions on topic makes information easier for members to find. Moderators may move, merge, close, edit, or remove discussions posted in the wrong area.
The DIS has a group of volunteer Moderators who assist visitors and monitor the boards. Their responsibilities include enforcing these guidelines, which may require editing, deleting, closing, merging, or moving a thread or post.
If a moderating decision affects you, please respect the decision. Questions or appeals should be directed privately to Corey at [email protected]. Public discussions, arguments, or complaints about a moderating decision may be removed without notice and may result in an infraction.
You are welcome to link to your website on our boards provided that:
Before posting a link to another site, please check whether the same information is available on wdwinfo.com, uofan.com, or dclfan.com. We reserve the right to replace an external link with a link to the same or similar information hosted on one of our websites.
Links in signatures to other websites must appear in plain text, such as: www.myexample.com. Bolding, linked images, promotional descriptions, logos, pricing, calls to action, or other embellishments may be treated as advertising and are not permitted.
For information about advertising in the signature area, email [email protected].
The DIS helps members plan Disney vacations. Disney sometimes releases discounts that are available through public promotional codes. This information is available in our Discounts section.
Disney may also send targeted offers to specific individuals or households. These offers may include a personal identification number, unique code, account-specific offer, or another restriction. Do not post, sell, transfer, request, or share these private codes on DISboards. Posts containing such information may be removed.
This rule also protects members from arriving at check-in and being unable to prove eligibility for an offer, which may result in being charged the full rate.
If you have questions or need help, please visit our Tech Support Board.
The DIS guidelines are an important part of keeping the site family-friendly. Most visitors follow the rules, but problems sometimes occur. We use an infraction system to address violations consistently.
Infractions have different point values. Many offenses result in a warning through private message accompanied by infraction points that expire according to the schedule below. If you do not accumulate additional points during that time, no further action should be needed. Serious violations may result in added penalties, temporary suspension, or an immediate permanent ban.
If you receive an infraction, you will be notified. To question or appeal a decision, contact Corey privately at [email protected]. Correspondence concerning an infraction remains subject to DISboards conduct rules.
A situation may arise that is not specifically listed in the infraction system. In those cases, we reserve the right to take appropriate action to protect members, enforce these guidelines and maintain the operation of DISboards.
Members may only upload, embed, display, reproduce, distribute, or link to images, videos, music, written material, graphics, artwork, photographs, software, or other content when they own the content or have permission or another lawful basis to use it.
Finding an image through a search engine, social-media post, stock-image website, wallpaper website, clip-art website, another discussion forum, or another website does not grant permission to copy, upload, embed, or repost the image.
Do not remove, crop out, obscure, alter, or bypass watermarks, copyright notices, creator credits, licensing information, or other ownership markings.
Do not upload or repost content obtained from stock-image services, subscription services, photographers, artists, publishers, news organizations, entertainment companies, or other rights holders unless the applicable license or written permission permits the specific use on DISboards.
Giving credit to the creator, linking to the original source, stating that no infringement was intended, or stating that the content was found online does not replace permission from the copyright owner.
By posting content on DISboards, you confirm that you created and own the content or have the permission, license, or legal authority required to post it. You also confirm that your post does not infringe another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, contractual, or other legal rights.
You remain responsible for all content you submit. Content posted by members represents the actions and views of the individual member. DISboards, The DIS, its owners, employees, moderators, and affiliated websites do not select, license, approve, or assume ownership of member-submitted content merely because it appears on the forum.
DISboards may remove, edit, restrict, or disable access to material in response to a copyright complaint, trademark complaint, court order, legal request, member report, moderator review, or other credible information. We may take action without advance notice to the member who posted the material.
Members who repeatedly post infringing material or violate this policy may receive infractions, lose image-uploading or posting privileges, have content removed, receive a temporary suspension, or have their accounts permanently terminated.
Copyright owners or authorized representatives who believe material on DISboards infringes their rights should review our Copyright and DMCA Policy for reporting instructions.
Removal or restriction of material does not constitute an admission of infringement, wrongdoing, damages, or liability by DISboards, The DIS, its owners, employees, moderators, or affiliated websites.
The DIS is a privately owned website, and we reserve the right to restrict outside commercial ventures, words, names, phrases, links, websites and URLs at our discretion.
We do not discuss the specific reasons why a website, word, name, phrase, or URL has been filtered. Public discussions about the word or URL filter may be removed.
Questions or comments about this or another DISboards policy should be directed privately to Corey at [email protected].
