Angela Lansbury sings “Beauty and the Beast” to celebrate film’s 25th anniversary

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Beauty and the Beast, the film was screened at Alice Tully Hall in New York. As a special part of the event, Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts, made an appearance and sang the film’s award-winning title song “Beauty and the Beast.”  She was accompanied on the piano by Alan Menken, one of the song’s co-composers.

Beauty and the Beast was released on November 22, 1991 and was the first animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. A new live-action version will be released on March 17, 2017.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
