If you’ve been counting down to the return of The Muppet Show, D23 just gave its Gold Members a pretty great reason to get even more excited. Members will be able to watch the new Muppet special early through a virtual advance screening next month.
The special brings Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the gang back to the original Muppet Theatre for a new night of music, jokes, and the kind of controlled chaos the Muppets do best. Sabrina Carpenter is along for the ride as the featured guest, joining the ensemble for a modern spin on the classic variety show format.
The advance screening takes place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as part of the D23 Gold Theater virtual event series. The stream begins at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET and is free for D23 Gold Members. Viewers will also have access to a live chat during the screening, making it more of a shared watch party than a standard on-demand stream.
The new special is produced by 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures, with Alex Timbers directing and serving as an executive producer. Seth Rogen is also involved as an executive producer and guest star, working alongside longtime Muppet performers and creative leaders who have helped shape the franchise over the years.
This release also lines up with a major milestone for the franchise. In 2026, The Muppet Show marks its 50th anniversary. The original series, created by Jim Henson, aired from 1976 to 1981 and introduced generations of fans to the Muppets through unforgettable guest appearances and timeless comedy. All five seasons are currently available to stream on Disney+.
For longtime fans, this early screening is a fun way to kick off the Muppets’ return before the special officially premieres on Disney+ and ABC on February 4th.
