DeSantis Pens Article for Wall Street Journal, “Why I Stood up to Disney”

It’s going to take everything in me to share this one with you without clouding it with my personal opinion, but I promise to have a good crack at it. **Takes a Deep Breath**

Last night, an article appeared on the Wall Street Journal website entitled “Why I stood up to Disney,” written by none other than Ron DeSantis, the 46th governor of Florida. The piece was a follow up from Monday’s deconstruction of the Reedy Creek Development District and its subsequent arrangements with local governments that had been in place since 1967.

The Florida state governor explains his reasoning for the grand movement citing Disney’s “woke” influence on society and its interjection on the infamous education bill from last year dubbed ‘Don’t Say Gay.’

While I can’t bring myself to share too much of the essay with you without comment, I will leave you with DeSantis’s sign-off paragraph, from which you can make your own decision on his intentions.

“Woke ideology is a form of cultural Marxism. Leaders must stand up and fight back when big corporations make the mistake, as Disney did, of using their economic might to advance a political agenda. We are making Florida the state where the economy flourishes because we are the state where woke goes to die.”

Ron DeSantis
