Disney+ is making it easier for more people around the world to enjoy their favorite movies and shows in the language they’re most comfortable with.
Beginning today, the streaming service has expanded its language offerings by adding support for 17 additional audio languages, bringing the total number of supported audio languages to 58. The update is part of Disney’s ongoing effort to make Disney+ more accessible to viewers across the globe.
The platform’s user interface is also growing. Disney+ now supports more than 30 interface languages, with subtitles and closed captions available in as many as 42 languages.
Among the newly added languages are Arabic, Croatian, Hebrew, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Depending on the language selected, users may have access to translated menus, audio tracks, subtitles, and closed captions.
A major change is the new right-to-left interface for Arabic and Hebrew. This updated design aims to give millions of users a smoother browsing experience when reading in these languages.
Disney says the expansion reflects the growing global audience for Disney+ and the increasing popularity of international originals. Shows produced in one country are finding audiences in many others, thanks in part to expanded language options that make them more accessible.
Subscribers who want to change their viewing preferences can do so during playback by opening the Audio & Subtitles menu to select a different audio track, subtitle language, or closed captions. The app’s display language can also be changed by editing a user profile in the Disney+ settings.
With these latest updates, Disney+ continues to broaden its accessibility features while making it easier for subscribers around the world to enjoy Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and other content in their preferred language.
