Disney is officially saying goodbye to the Play Disney Parks app.
Beginning September 16, 2026, the Play Disney Parks app will no longer be available. The app has offered interactive games, trivia, digital achievements, and other activities designed to add another layer to visits at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
One of its more notable features has been its integration with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where guests can turn their phones into a Star Wars Datapad. The app currently allows guests to scan cargo, translate Aurebesh, interact with droids and control panels, intercept transmissions, and complete other activities throughout Black Spire Outpost.
The good news is that the end of the app doesn’t mean every experience connected to it is disappearing.
Disney specifically confirmed that select in-park experiences, including Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters, will remain available using MagicBand+. Currently, MagicBand+ uses lights and vibrations to guide bounty hunters toward their targets throughout Galaxy’s Edge.
Disney hasn’t provided much additional information yet about what will happen to other activities currently housed within Play Disney Parks after the app goes away.
The Play Disney Parks app originally launched in 2018, making this the end of an eight-year run for a feature that Disney once positioned as another way to interact with the theme parks from your phone.
If you still use it during your park visits, you’ll have until September 16 before Play Disney Parks officially signs off.
