The D23 Expo is known for its surprise and delight factor, allowing fans to step inside the inner workings of upcoming Disney attractions, upgrades, and innovations. This year will be no exception. Although Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro won’t take the stage until Sunday to present the highly anticipated A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Disney Parks Blog gave us a sneak peek of a few exciting exhibitions that will be on offer at the event, including news on Disneyland’s Mickey’s Toontown and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and EPCOT’s Journey of Water.
The Mickey’s Toontown area of Disneyland park is currently undergoing a substantial upgrade into a delightful “vibrant symphony of sights, sounds, and sensations.” With a combination of interactive play areas and the addition of the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, the overhaul is expected to open in 2023.
This next one is extremely exciting for me, as I do believe that a push into a sustainable future that has a focus on the natural world is an excellent direction for EPCOT in the coming years. D23 guests will be able to enjoy a model of Te Fiti to be featured in the Journey of Water attraction at EPCOT, as well as behind-the-scenes photos of that area’s concept and development. Journey of Water is inspired by Disney’s 2016 hit, Moana.
Disney’s D23 2022 event starts September 9th and will run through until Sunday afternoon on September 11th.
