Disney Pixar’s ‘Coco’ Breaking Box Office Records in Mexico

Disney Pixar’s Coco is set to hit theatres in the U.S. Wednesday and it has already has set a box office record in Mexico. Coco opens November 23 in China and on November 24 in Russia.

Coco premiered at the Morelia Film Festival and according to the Orlando Sentinel “has taken in 824 million pesos — or $43.1 million — through its first 19 days and will pass the mark of 827 million pesos grossed by “The Avengers” during its entire run.”



The animated family movie made its debut in Mexico on October 27; two days prior to the start of the Dia De Los Muertos holiday. Since the debut, the film has held the number one spot at the box office for three back-to-back weeks.

At the time this article was written, the film is rated at 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
