During the last month, Cast Members of the Walt Disney World Resort have collected over $200,000 in school supplies that will benefit students in five Central Florida school districts. Ensuring that students could begin their school year with the tools they need for academic success was a top priority for these generous VoluntEARs who donated more than 1,800 hours to make it a reality.
A group of Disney VoluntEARS has spent weeks granting wishes for local teachers and students by coming together to donate school supplies in support of the supply drive, including VoluntEARing at A Gift For Teaching’s First Teacher Shopping Day. More than $200,000 worth of supplies, including notebooks, pens, markers, and many other necessary classroom items that will benefit children of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Polk, and Lake counties were donated toward their cause.
Marisa Worley, Director of Development for A Gift For Teaching said,
Teachers come to us with their school supply wish lists, filled with items no student should have to go without. Without the support of Disney VoluntEARS, we couldn’t do what we do. Year after year, they help make the wishes of local teachers and the dreams of Central Florida students come true.”
