According to a recent article in the Orange County Register, the Disneyland Resort will soon be relocating one of its security checkpoints.
The checkpoint on the west end of the esplanade near La Brea Bakery will be eliminated in favor of three or four new checkpoints that will put Downtown Disney within the secured area.
Guests parking in the Mickey & Friends parking structure will soon go through a new bag check before boarding a tram to Downtown Disney.
There will also be checkpoints between Earl of Sandwich and ESPN Zone for those guests coming from the Disneyland Hotel, and between ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe for those guests that park in the Downtown Disney parking lot. This second checkpoint could also potentially service the new luxury hotel being built on property.
Guests entering the resort via the pedestrian entrance on Harbor Boulevard or parking in the Toy Story parking lot won’t be see a change.
Guests will now be able to visit restaurants or shops in the Downtown Disney area and then return to the parks without having to go through security multiple times.
The change is expected to be in place by the end of the year.
