As anticipated, the Disneyland Resort has began reassigning some of the longtime members of the classic Disneyland Band. Beginning on July 17th, fourteen of the sixteen members of the group will be assigned to smaller ensembles at the resort.
The band will then add 16 new members that will join the remaining two. Disneyland hopes to make the re-imagined Disneyland Band more upbeat and energetic as part of the Diamond Celebration.
Bob Sanders, president of the Orange County Musician’s Association thinks that it’s a “slap in the face’ to the veteran musicians, adding that “moral in the band today is at an all-time low.”
Sanders fears that “Disney’s losing the traditional band Walt wanted when he opened the park.”
There is no word as to whether or not the “traditional” Disneyland Band will return at the end of the Diamond Celebration.
