A group called “In Defense of Animals” has named Disney’s Animal Kingdom number 10 on their 2014 list of “10 Worst Zoos for Elephants.” The California nonprofit group released their list on Monday, January 12, and cited the death of Moyo, a pregnant Animal Kingdom elephant, as the reason for putting Disney on the list. موقع وليام هيل للمراهنات Disney transferred the pregnant elephant to the National Elephant Center in Fellsmere, Florida, where she and her unborn calf died during childbirth. Tufani, a 10-year-old male, was transferred to the Center last year, where he died of a salmonella infection. اربح المال Disney needed room for other animals; in addition, Tufani was being shunned from his herd by his family and the Center was supposed to help him adjust.
“In Defense of Animals” released a statement saying that zoos “generally do not transfer pregnant females because of the great stress of travel and potential complications, yet DAK trucked Moyo – who also reportedly had a ‘rare hormonal issue’ – to this unproven Florida center. بيت ٣٦٥ This illustrates how Zoo transfers are often made with little to no regard for the physical, psychological and social effects on elephants, or, apparently in this case, the health of a pregnant mother and her baby.”
The National Elephant Center opened in 2013 and had two of their top leaders leave in 2014 around the time of the deaths. These leaders were former employees of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Animal Kingdom was on the list in 2007 because it sent two of its elephants to a center that the group said was “known for aggression between its elephants.”
