As Lady Gaga stood, precariously perched high above the stadium during her Super Bowl LI halftime show, some familiar-looking drones formed into the American Flag in the nighttime sky behind her. It was truly a beautiful sight to behold.
You might remember the familiar drones that were used in the “Starbright Holidays” Christmas show that took place over the water near Disney Springs as you looked over toward Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa. The drones flew into formations such as a Christmas Tree and a dove while Christmas music played in the background during the 7-minute show.
The drones used in both “Starbright Holidays” and in last night’s Super Bowl halftime show are actually the same model; the Intel “Shooting Star.”
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Intel said, “the Super Bowl performance was the highest the Shooting Star drones have flown. The company got a waiver from the FAA to fly its units at 700 feet. At Disney, the drones reached heights of 400 feet. All 300 drones can be controlled by one computer and one drone pilot, Intel says.”
It’s pretty fascinating what those little droids can do!
