UPDATE 9/11/18: Walt Disney World has shared a brand new video that shows the newest Mickey-shaped sand bunker that was added to the Oak Trail golf course which matches the original one that’s been on No. 6 at the Magnolia course for more than 40 years. Take a look:
New enhancements are getting ready to begin at the golf courses around the Walt Disney World Resort this summer.
The bunkers at the Magnolia course were enhanced back in 2015 and similar enhancements for the Lake Buena Vista, Palm and Oak Trail courses are coming soon. One of the enhancements that’s sure to be a hit with guests will be the addition of Mickey-shaped bunkers to Lake Buena Vista and Oak Trail resembling the one found at No. 6 on the Magnolia course.
The Palm course is currently closed as it’s undergoing the regular aeration process. When the course reopens on June 18, it will have re-imagined bunkers and improved drainage capabilities.
All of the bunkers at the Lake Buena Vista course will have new powdery white sand added with work beginning on June 18 and finishing around the middle of August.
“At Oak Trail, the greens are being restored to their original size and totally resurfaced utilizing paspalum grass for the first time ever on a Disney putting green.” This work will begin on June 25 and the course will be finished mid-August as well.
During all of the work going on, special discounted rates at both courses will be offered in addition to regular rates at the Magnolia and Palm courses which will both remain open for play all summer.
Guests can call Disney Golf at (407) 939-4653 for additional details and may follow the course developments on the Disney Golf Facebook page at @WDWGolf.
