It has been announced that the popular Disney production will close at the end of this year.
Since its opening in 2021, Frozen has entranced thousands of Disney fans with its magical story. But Disney, and the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, have shared that after its new eight-month extension, the show will close with its final performance on the 8th of September.
The show will continue to run with Laura Dawkes as Anna and Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff. Along with Craig Gallivan playing Olaf plus, Oliver Ormson will continue his role as Hans. Samantha Barks is set to reprise her role as Elsa from the start of February, when she returns from maternity leave.
However, despite the recent closure of some Disney productions in the last few years such as Mary Poppins, it is an exciting time to be a Disney fan!
Coming soon…
Along with the Disney Treasure’s ‘Tale of Moana,’ which will premiere at the end of this year, there is also a rumored West End run of Hercules after a small performance was given at The Royal Variety. And, of course, Aladdin will take its first ever tour of the UK this year!
Hopefully, Frozen will follow suit and hit the road, giving Disney fans another opportunity to watch the show. However, it has been said that with the news of its closure, schools are being given the opportunity to purchase the rights to perform the show. This will be music to the ears of any child that has dreamt of being Anna or Elsa!
Are you sad Frozen’s run has come to an end? Of course there is still the Broadway production, and the North American tour, but is it time for a change?
What Disney production would you want to see instead?
Many fans await the news of a new stage production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Whilst others have expressed that they would like to see a park or cruise line show on an even bigger scale, such as the Disney Magic’s Tangled musical, or Animal Kingdom’s nostalgic show Tarzan Rocks!
Let us know what you think!
