Last month, you may have seen that Governor Ron DeSantis filed a motion to remove Judge Mark Walker from the Disney vs. DeSantis lawsuit. As previously reported, Disney responded to DeSantis’s motion arguing that the points made did not meet the criteria for disqualification. Thursday evening, Judge Walker denied the Governor’s motion to recuse himself, stating that the “Defendant’s motion is wholly without merit” and that he finds “the motion is nothing more than rank judge-shopping.” Walker did discover that “a relative within the third degree” is a Disney stockholder (of 30 shares of stock) and then filed the document disqualifying himself from presiding over the case for that specific reason only.
The documentation filed states that the case has been “reassigned to Judge Allen C. Winsor for all further proceedings.” You can read the full document below.
