Leadership changes announced at SeaWorld Entertainment

In the wake of declining attendance and income, SeaWorld Entertainment CEO Joel Manby recently announced several changes to the leadership team, including some promotions and retirements.

Following the retirement of Chief Parks Operations Officer Daniel B. Brown, John Reilly, the current president of SeaWorld San Diego has been promoted to that position.

Marilyn Hannes, who has been with the company since 1997 and is currently the vice president of global sales, will replace Reilly.

Over at SeaWorld San Antonio, Dan Decker is leaving the company and is being replaced by Carl Lum, who currently heads Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

In addition, Christopher Dodd, the current vice president of zoological services is being promoted to chief zoological officer, replacing Brad Andrews who will stay on as the zoological director emeritus.

Finally, SeaWorld has hired Steve Iandolo in the new position of vice president of resort development, signalling the company’s desire to expand beyond the Parks.  SeaWorld San Diego recently formed a partnership with Evans Hotel Group to create a Sea World-branded hotel near that park.
