Marvel’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Becomes Highest Grossing R-Rated Film

Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman movie, has smashed its latest record to become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time at the global box office. We should note that it has not been adjusted for inflation.

The third film in the Deadpool franchise ended Thursday with a whopping worldwide total of $1.086 billion, which includes $516.8 million domestically and $568.8 million internationally. There are only two R-rated movies that have ever crossed the $1 billion mark. Joker with Joaquin Phoenix grossed $1.079 billion, also not adjusted for inflation, in 2019.

According to an article in The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool & Wolverine is “the first superhero movie to cross $1 billion since Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home two and a half years ago, and the first Marvel/Disney MCU pic to cross the $1 billion threshold since Avengers: Endgame in 2019.”

Speaking of Deadpool, he crashed the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event to discuss his ideas for Disney Parks with Josh D’Amaro. We’ve got a video of the whole escapade! It was absolutely hilarious, and we recommend watching it ASAP!
