One of the original Mouseketeers from The Mickey Mouse Club has passed away. Doreen Tracey appeared on the show during its entire 1955-1959 run.
Doreen passed away on Wednesday after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 74.
Tommy Cole, one of Doreen’s fellow Mouseketeers reminisced, “Our Dodo, as we lovingly nicknamed her, always had a smile on her face. She never failed to make us all feel good and we will miss her.”
Doreen was born in London, but as a child moved to the United States where her father opened a dance studio. Doreen’s dance background led her to audition for The Mickey Mouse Club. She also appeared in Disney’s Westward Ho, the Wagons!
Later Doreen toured with her own act before becoming a publicist at Warner Brothers.
Doreen is survived by her son and two grandchildren.
