Last week, the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference took Disney fans by surprise when Josh D’Amaro introduced us to a wave of new technology. The Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman spent a substantial amount of time walking us through technological advancements that allow for a more immersive storytelling environment. However, it was about halfway through the Storytelling Through Characters presentation that something incredible happened. Imagineers Mogan Pope and Tony Dohi wheeled a mysterious crate onto the stage, not immediately revealing what was inside.
If you haven’t already, you must see the video below showing what appears to be a Judy Hopps robotic that can move, fall and even get back up again, mimicking life-like movements. Can you imagine if characters like these are eventually able to be roaming around the theme parks?
Could this be a little glimpse of what is to come in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Dinoland USA remodel? We already know there is a high likely hood of a Moana / Zootopia-styled area. Could Judy be one of the features coming with the new theme?
