The Walt Disney Company is donating $1 million to the OneOrlando fund, which was set up by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, for people affected by the deadly attack at Pulse nightclub on Sunday.
The company is also matching all donations made by the employees with the Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation.
Bob Chapek, chairman of the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said, “We are heartbroken by this tragedy and hope our commitment will help those in the community affected by this senseless act. With 74,000 Cast Members who call Orlando home, we mourn the loss of the victims and offer our condolences to their families, friends and loved ones.”
Walt Disney World is working with other agencies to provide support as well, including OneBlood, who is setting up five cast member blood drives across the Resort. The Resort is also working with the City of Orlando and the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association to provide complimentary accommodations for victims’ friends and families.
