According to the Orlando Sentinel, the first call was reported at about 7:24 p.m. Eastern as a weapons call.

Airport spokeswoman Carolyn Fennell said an armed man was on the first floor of the airport in the rental car area and that the first floor has been cleared. Terminal A is reportedly shut down as well and law-enforcement officers are on the scene. As expected, traffic entering the airport is also at a standstill.

Airport officials are reporting “minimal impact to operations,” but passengers are reportedly concerned about missing their flights.

Florida Highway Patrol is telling those in the area to “stay in your vehicle and away from law enforcement personnel.”

Orlando Sentinel news partner Fox 35 is currently reporting that the armed man has not harmed himself or anyone else and that officers are speaking with him on Level 1 in Airside A trying to get him to drop the weapon.
