Disneyland guests got a surprise they definitely didn’t see coming this weekend, and it ties directly into one of the biggest Star Wars updates arriving in the parks this year.
Pedro Pascal, along with Sigourney Weaver, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni, made an unexpected appearance inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park on May 16, just days before the debut of a brand-new experience tied to The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Pascal didn’t just wave to everyone from a distance, either. He was right in the middle of the action and surprised guests aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Imagine thinking you’re just hopping on a Disney ride and suddenly the Mandalorian himself is there?! What an incredible experience that those guests will talk about for years to come!
The visit was so perfectly timed, leading up to a major update coming to Smugglers Run. Starting May 22, both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World will debut a new mission featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu. The timing aligns with the theatrical release of the new Lucasfilm film, which hits theaters and IMAX the same day.
After riding, the group gathered in front of the Millennium Falcon for photos with The Mandalorian and Grogu, giving fans an early look at how the characters are woven into the land’s evolving story.

There’s also something new happening at night in Batuu. For a limited time, guests can enjoy “The Curious Child,” a projection sequence that plays after Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga. The show transforms the spires near the Falcon with scenes of Grogu recalling moments from his journey with Din Djarin. It’s quick, but visually striking, and it adds another reason to stick around Galaxy’s Edge after dark.

These surprise celebrity moments must be so incredible if you happen to be in the right place at the right time. With a new ride mission, and fresh nighttime entertainment, Galaxy’s Edge is the place to be as The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives in theaters. If you’re planning a visit soon, don’t miss these exciting new experiences.
